Most memecoin losses are not bad entries. They are good entries held too long. Axiom's limit orders exist to take that decision away from you in the moment, and they run on Axiom's servers, so they fire whether or not your browser is open.
What Axiom limit orders can do
- Take-profit (TP): sell a percentage of the position when price or market cap reaches a target.
- Stop-loss (SL): sell when price or market cap falls to a floor.
- Multiple levels: stack several TPs, for example 25% at 2x, 25% at 3x, the rest at 5x.
- Trailing stop: the floor rises as price rises, locking in gains on a run.
- Limit buy: enter only if the token dips to a chosen level.
- Defaults in settings: apply the same TP/SL to every new position automatically.
Orders are stored server-side. Closing the tab, losing connection or switching to the app does not cancel them.
Price vs market cap targets
Axiom lets you set targets by market cap as well as price. On a fresh token, market cap is easier to reason about: "sell half at $1M" is a clearer plan than a price with six leading zeros. Market cap targets also stay meaningful across supply differences between tokens. Use price targets on migrated, established tokens where the chart is the reference.
A default exit plan that works
For traders starting out, the simplest robust setup is:
- Stop-loss at 30 to 40% below entry. Tight enough to cap a rug, loose enough to survive normal memecoin volatility.
- First take-profit at 2x for 50% of the bag. You have your initial capital back; everything left is house money.
- Second take-profit at 4x for 25%.
- Trailing stop on the rest, 25% below the high, so a runner keeps running but a reversal gets caught.
Set this once in Settings as the default and every new buy inherits it. Adjust per token when you have a reason.
Partial sells and why they matter
Selling 100% at a single target either leaves money on the table or gets you stopped out at break-even. Partial sells across levels smooth the outcome. Axiom's sell presets (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) mirror this for manual exits too.
Common mistakes
- Stop-loss too tight. Memecoins routinely swing 20% in a minute. A 10% stop just donates the position.
- Only mirroring the target's sells in copy trading. If the wallet you copy never sells, neither do you. Attach your own TP/SL to copy rules. See the copy trading guide.
- Forgetting slippage on the sell. A stop-loss on a thin pool may fill far below the trigger. Set sell slippage realistically or the order can fail.
- No stop at all. The most common one. Set the default.
Fees on limit orders
Limit orders pay the normal per-swap fee when they execute: 1%, or 0.8% with code trading20. There is no extra charge for placing or cancelling them. See Axiom fees.
Where to find them
On any token page, below the buy panel, open the Orders tab. Active orders also appear in Portfolio, where you can edit or cancel them. Defaults live under Settings.
Set exits before you need them. The best time to decide when to sell is before the buy fills.
